Having more than 40 years of combined legal experience equates to much more than an arsenal of legal knowledge.  Helping our clients overcome the most personal challenging legal issues allowed us to discover more than the opportunity to operate a productive law practice.  We found PURPOSE.

This is our family.  These three girls hold our legacy.

We've had an estate plan (Wills, Power of Attorneys, Directive to Physicians, Declaration of Guardian for Minor Children, and Trusts) prepared since right before our first child was born and the only thing we owned at the time were student loansMuch to our surprise, we found the process empowering  because we made the choice to put the interests of those we love above our fear of mortality. Without a doubt, taking the time and effort to create an estate plan that identified our expectations OF our loved ones FOR our loved ones in the event of an emergency, illness, and eventual death was one of our greatest gifts to each other, our children, and the people we know who would "step up" if needed.  We have removed doubt about our wishes and we have reduced the potential for confusion.  Our plans aren't identical, although careful consideration was given to every detail.  Not a problem - we covered all the bases and the last man (or woman) standing wins wherever we disagreed!  More importantly, we protected our loved ones.

Some say that you cannot put a price on security and peace of mind.  We say - it depends.  The price of a well thought out estate plan prepared by The Hatchett Law Firm is affordable. So why not chose a truly extravagant, thoughtful, and wise gift of a thorough estate plan to protect and empower your loved ones or ensure your charitable intentions?  Allow our team at The Hatchett Law Firm assist you through the process.  Don't wait for a crisis event.  Contact us before the need arises.

the team you need on your side

We are Texas lawyers.  We serve clients from across the nation but we limit our practice to matters within our jurisdiction.  Our main counties of service are Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, and Waller County.  When necessary, our team will make house calls, hospital visits, evening and weekend appointments to serve the immediate needs of our infirmed clients.  We don't work around the clock.  But we are available when you need us.  We volunteer at our church and schools, we serve on boards, we help our neighbors here and abroad, we give to worthwhile causes, we've won awards.  That's who we are.  We don't practice law to get rich, we practice to serve our community.  Rather than read our list of achievements, feel free to contact us directly so that we may discuss those matters that concern you most when deciding to hire Texas legal counsel.  If we're not a good fit for you- we'll do our best to refer you to another lawyer or service who may better suit your needs.  In the meantime, consider these factors when selecting a lawyer:

  • Will they be reasonably accessible to you or will you be handed off to an assistant?
  • Do they have sufficient knowledge of the laws regarding your legal matter, or will they have to research every question you ask before they can give you a straight answer?
  • Have they ever handled a matter similar to your legal issue? And if not, are you comfortable that they are resourceful to achieve the correct result on your behalf despite inexperience?
  • Are their fees reasonable compared to the complexity of your legal matter?
  • Will your case be handled with importance, or will you be assigned a number?
  • Do they appear to understand your concerns, or do they talk down to you?
  • Have they provided a good faith estimate of the time and cost associated with handling your matter?
  • Do they offer payment arrangements that you can understand and afford?
  • Do they appear committed to their practice?
  • Do they have a history or pattern of complaints filed with The State Bar of Texas?
  • Do they subscribe to the Texas Lawyers Creed? Texas_Lawyers_Creed.pdf
